- CC&S's Deborah McKoy and Jeff Vincent present on creating "Opportunity-Rich Schools and Sustainable Communities" to the City of Edmonton's mayor's task force on community sustainability . The task force is working on strategies to revive 100 neighbourhoods built before 1971, many of which have seen sharp declines in the number of households with children. As a result, Edmonton's two school districts have looked to close schools serving these neighborhoods. Last fall, the public school board put a two-year moratorium on school closures and this year voted to delay new school construction, while community leaders in the task force investigate options to ensure neighborhood and school quality amidst community change.
